A dozen families from across the city have won tickets to see the Sheffield Steelers ice hockey team in action after visiting a brand new showhome development.

The families received their tickets after visiting the three stunning new showhomes at the Sheffield Housing Company's (SHC's) latest development at Brearley Forge in the Parson Cross area of the city.

Everybody who viewed the show homes during the company's official launch last month was automatically entered into the free prize draw.  Collecting their tickets from Steelers Captain Jonathan Phillips and Mike O'Connor, Commercial Manager for the Steelers, the winners can now select a game of their choice to attend.

One of the showhomes even has its own Steelers feel with the children's bedroom kitted out in a Steelers theme with murals painted on the walls, a hockey rink on the ceiling and a goalie net as a headboard.

Sheffield Steelers captain, Jonathan Phillips, said: “The showhome with the Steelers room is outstanding.  Every kid would love to have a bedroom like that…even I would love to have a bedroom like that.  I have never seen such a fun, Steelers themed room like this before.  It's awesome.”

Winners Wendy and Richard Glaves from Hatfield House Lane said, “We are delighted to win the tickets and look forward to watching the Steelers play.  We only live five minutes from the development and the new homes are very nice, we are very interested in buying one.”

First time buyers Charley Farey-Dawber, 27 and her husband Peter from Hillsborough also won a set of tickets.  The couple only got married a couple of years ago and are now looking to buy their first home together.  They visited the development when the new showhomes opened and said the homes look stunning.  They both used to work at the Arena but never got to watch a game and said it will be nice to actually go and see the Steelers play live.

The 142-home Brearley Forge development is SHC's largest development and is the first phase of an existing new project for the company, which plans to build 2,300 new homes across the city over the next 15 years.  SHC is a partnership between Sheffield City Council, Keepmoat and Great Places Housing Group.

Brearley Forge currently offers buyers seven different house types including a mix of two and three bedroom homes, making it ideal for first time buyers, professionals and families.  House prices range from £79,996 on the Help to Buy scheme for a two bedroom Sheaf to £103,996 on the Help to Buy scheme for a three bedroom Loxley and Meadow.

Help to Buy is the Government's financial assistance scheme offering buyers who have saved a 5% deposit the chance to take advantage of a five-year interest free loan covering 20% of the value of the property. The remaining 75% of the property's value will be funded through a mortgage, which Keepmoat can help buyers to arrange.

The high quality, sustainable and energy efficient homes have been architecturally designed to the highest standard and are light and spacious, with private gardens and parking.

For more information or to make an advanced reservation on your dream home, please visit Keepmoat's sales office at Brearley Forge, Falstaff Crescent, Sheffield, S5 8DD between 10.00am and 5.00pm Thursday to Monday.
